Man Arrested For Duping People Through Cyber Fraud In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: Police arrested a man from Odisha capital on Sunday for allegedly duping several youths of lakhs of rupees by promising them to provide jobs in reputed companies.
According to sources, the man, identified as Dilip Behera, used to advertise in newspapers seeking applications for appointment to vacancies in companies like Nalco and Cimplex. After the aspiring persons contacted him over phone, he told them to deposit a certain amount online in his bank account.
After the money was deposited, Dilip would delay the matter on some plea or the other. After several such persons realised that they had been cheated by Dilip, they filed a complaint with Cyber Police in Bhubaneswar.
Following investigation, Cyber Police traced Dilip and arrested him from the city on Sunday. The police have also frozen his four bank accounts where lakhs of rupees were deposited by the job aspirants.
The police have launched further investigation to ascertain whether any other person was involved in the racket.
It may be noted that principal of a college in Rourkela city was duped of more than Rs 8 lakh from his bank account by cyber fraud on Friday.
Earlier, a medical student, who had returned from Ukraine, fell victim to cyber fraud in Bhubaneswar as he was duped of Rs 2,500 in April.
