Sundargarh: A man allegedly killed his father and severely injured his mother in a brutal attack in Odisha’s Sundargarh district late on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Pandu Munda of Kadamdihi village at Koira block. The accused is his son, Sana Munda, while the injured mother is Raibari Munda.
According to sources, the incident began with a verbal argument between Sana and his mother, Raibari, which quickly escalated into physical violence. Sana allegedly started assaulting his mother, prompting his father, Pandu, to intervene in an attempt to protect her. In a fit of rage, Sana reportedly turned on his father, repeatedly striking him with a stick, leading to his death on the spot.
Neighbours, alerted by the commotion, informed Koira police, who rushed to the spot. Raibari sustained critical injuries, including a fractured hand, and was rushed to Community Health Centre (CHC) at Koira, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Police have recovered the body of Pandu and sent it for postmortem. A case has been registered at the Koira police station, and further investigation is underway.
