Baripada: In a shocking incident, a woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband for not serving him egg curry for lunch at a village in Udala area of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday.
As per preliminary information, the incident took place at Bandhasahi village under the jurisdiction of Udala police station in the district in the afternoon. The accused has been identified as Lama Baske.
Sources said Lama came home from work for lunch and found that his wife Basanti had not prepared egg curry. Though he had brought eggs earlier for the purpose, Basanti served him rice with a different curry.
Infuriated by this, the accused entered into a heated argument with the woman. The altercation turned violent when Lama allegedly attacked Basanti and hit her head repeatedly with an iron object. The woman reportedly died on the spot.
After receiving information from villagers, a team from Udala police station reached the village, seized the body, and took Lama into custody.
A case has been registered and further investigation is in progress.
