Marginal Increase In Odisha COVID Cases, Death Toll In 4th Wave Rises To 23

Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported a marginal increase in daily COVID caseload on Friday with 583 people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours against 530 the previous day.

According to the I & PR department, 340 cases are from quarantine and 243 local contacts. Among them, 126 are in the age group of 0-18 years.

Besides, 17 are from the state pool.

With these cases being detected from 17,201 samples, the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) stood at 3.83%. Odisha now has 4,407 active cases.

The state has confirmed one more death due to COVID after the audit process, taking the toll in the fourth wave to 23.

The Health Department identified the deceased as a 75-year-old man from Kendrapara who was also suffering from diabetes mellitus, acute kidney infection, and chronic kidney disease.
