Bhubaneswar: A massive fire broke out at a mattress factory near Mancheswar railway station in Bhubaneswar late on Saturday, destroying materials worth lakhs of rupees.
According to sources, the fire quickly spread through the factory, consuming flammable materials such as foam, plastic, cotton, and cloth stored within. Several fire tenders were pressed into service, and it took them several hours to control the intense blaze. “The materials inside were extremely flammable, which made the operation challenging. Thankfully, we managed to control it without any injuries,” a senior official from the fire services said.
Initial evaluations suggest substantial financial losses, though the full extent is still awaiting official confirmation. The cause of the fire is unknown, and an investigation is ongoing to determine its origin.
Authorities are also examining whether the factory complied with fire safety regulations.
