Medical Student Drowns In Waterfall In Odisha’s Mayurbhanj

Baripada: A medical student drowned while bathing with his friends in a waterfall in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Sunday.

As per reports, 7 friends had gone on an outing to Devkund under Udala police station in the district. On arriving there around noon, they went to take bath in the waterfall.

Unfortunately, one of them slipped on a stone and went deep into water. As none of them knew swimming, they could not go to his rescue. They managed to call some local people who dived into the deep water of the waterfall.

After a search for some time, they brought the unconscious student out of the water and rushed him to the hospital at Sridamchandrapur. But the doctors declared him brought dead.

The deceased was identified as Lipen Sahu of Golanthara in Berhampur of Ganjam district. He was a third year student pursuing MBBS in PRM Medical College and Hospital at Baripada.

On being informed, a team from Udala police station went to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. They have registered a case of unnatural death and informed Lipen’s family.
