New Delhi: Narendra Modi’s personal rapport with global leaders always attracts eyeballs. Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, Emmanuel Macron, Benjamin Netanyahu – the list goes on.
However, netizens have a special liking for the Indian Prime Minister’s camaraderie with his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni.
Modi and Meloni have showcased their friendly rapport in videos and selfies several times. At the Dubai COP28 summit last year, the Italian PM shared a photo on social media using the hashtag Melodi. “Good friends at COP28, #Melodi.” Meloni had captioned the photo.
As the two leaders met again on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Canada’s Kananaskis, a video of the Modi and Meloni greeting each other made waves online.
The two leaders are seen smiling and shaking hands, as they ask about each other’s well-being.
Meloni tells Modi he is “the best”, and she was “trying to be” like him.
The video clip went viral in no time, and has been shared across various social media platforms.

Netizens loved the bonhomie between the two leaders.
“Melodi moments,” pointed out one user.
“Jalwa hai Modiji ka,” remarked one person.
One user called it a “wholesome” moment.
Some, however, speculated whether this interaction had been doctored.
“Is this edited or something?” wondered one user.
