Bhubaneswar: Even as Thursday saw a steady decrease in the night temperature in Odisha, including the coastal region, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted further dip in mercury by 2-3 degree Celsius in the next 72 hours.
According to an evening release by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, Daringbadi in Kandhamal district was the coldest place for the second consecutive day at 10 degree Celsius while temperature remained below 15 degree Celsius in Angul (12.6), Keonjhar (14.2), Koraput (12.8), Phulbani (12.6) and Titlagarh (13.1).
Besides, interior districts of Jharsuguda (16), Sambalpur (15.8), Sundargarh (12.5), Hirakud (16.9), Talcher (18.3), Bhawanipatna (15.2), Balangir (17), Baripada (16.4) and Sonepur (17.6) also witnessed a fall in temperature and so did the coastal districts of Balasore (16), Chandbali (18), Cuttack (16.2), Paradip (20), Bhubaneswar (17.2), Gopalpur (19.5) and Puri (19).
The night temperature in Bhubaneswar fell by over 2 degree Celsius (17.2) in two days. The city had recorded 19.6 degree Celsius on Tuesday and 18.8 degree Celsius the following day.
Since there will be no change in the weather conditions till next week (up to November 19), the night temperature may fall further with cold wave covering the state, the release added.
