Mercury Drops To 6°C In Odisha; Bhubaneswar & Cuttack Record Below Normal Temp Amid Fog

Bhubaneswar:  The mercury dropped to 6 degree Celsius at Kirei in Sundargarh district as the winter chill made a comeback in Odisha in the last 24 hours, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre informed on Friday.

Nine other places in the state recorded night temperature below 12 degree Celsius. Rourkela recorded 7.9 degree Celsius followed by Jharsuguda (8), Sundargarh (9), Angul (10), Koraput (10.1), Ranital in Bhadrak (10.2), Keonjhar (10.4) and Sambalpur and Phulbani at 11 degree Celsius each.

The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 15 and 14 degree Celsius, respectively, 1 and 0.8 degrees below normal. Several other places in the state also recoded below normal temperature.

Thick blanket of fog also engulfed Balangir, Cuttack, Angul, Talcher, Titlagarh, Phulbani, and Dhenkanal this morning. Chandbali, Bhubaneswar, Paradip, Baripada, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Hirakud, Bhawanipatna, Koraput and Sonepur also experienced shallow to moderate fog.

On Thursday, the weather agency had forecast a fall in the minimum temperature by 2 to 3 degree Celsius at many places in Odisha during the next 48 hours amid dry weather conditions.
