MG ZS Electric Launched At Prices Lower Than Hyundai Kona

It is raining car launches in India. Morris Garages Motor on Thursday launched the ZS electric vehicle in the country. The fully-electric vehicle has been launched at an introductory price of Rs 20.88 lakh (ex-showroom).

MG has already received 2800 bookings for the ZS EV. The ZS EV will be available only in five cities to start with (Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Hyderabad).

The first 1000 customers, however, will receive the MG ZS EV at a special price, that is one lakh lesser than the regular price. It comes in two variants. Here are the prices (ex-showroom):

– MG ZS Excite – Rs 20.88 lakh
– MG ZS Exclusive – Rs 23.58 lakh

The electric MG is powered by a 3-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces 142.76 PS and 353 Nm of maximum torque and is mated to an automatic transmission. The battery is a 44.5 kWh water-cooled unit that has a ARAI range of 340km. It can be recharged to 80 per cent using AC fast charger in 6-8 hours. Using a DC charger, the same can be done in 50 minutes. The top speed is 140kmph and 0-100kmph comes in 8.5 seconds.

MG has also introduced eShield packages that gives a 5-year/unlimited km manufacturer warranty, 8-year/1.50 lakh km warranty on battery and 5-year roadside assistance.

The vehicle has features such as projector headlamps with LED DRLs, 17-inch machined alloy wheels, 20.32 cm touchscreen infotainment system, 8.9 cm multi-information display, 6-way power-adjustable driver seat, cruise control, dual-pane panoramic sunroof and PM 2.5 filter.

It is available in three colours only – Ferris White, Copenhagen Blue and Currant Red.

The MG ZS electric vehicle has also received five stars at the Euro NCAP crash tests. It has six airbags (dual front, side, curtain), ABS with EBD and brake assist, hill start assist, hill descent control, electronic stability control, electric parking brake, tyre pressure monitoring system, heated ORVM and front and rear seat belt reminder.
