Micromax Re-Enters Market With New ‘in’ Series Phones; Will It Succeed This Time?

New Delhi: After a long hiatus, homegrown Micromax is back with new smartphones hoping to capitalise on anti-China sentiments.

Sales of some Chinese brands have fallen in the last two quarters. Micromax is also using #InForIndia to attract Indians towards the brand.

Micromax, this time, has gone in for aggressive pricing just like Xiaomi and Realme with the ‘in note 1’ and ‘in 1b’.

This one is priced ₹10,999 onwards and is comparable to Redmi Note 9 and Realme Narzo 20. Redmi Note 9 is ₹500 costlier than the Micromax. It runs on the same MediTek’s Helio G85 octa-core chipset, has 5,000mAh battery and quad cameras with a 48MP primary sensor. The display is slightly larger on Micromax at 6.67-inches.

Micromax works on stock Android while the Redmi Note 9 uses MIUI.

Comparing with the Realme Narzo 20, which is priced at ₹10,499 and also runs on the same G85 processor and has a 48MP camera. The screen of the Narzo is smaller at 6.5-inch but it has a bigger 6,000mAh battery.

The budget series phone starts at ₹6,999 and competes with Xiaomi Redmi 9A (₹6,799) and Realme C11 (₹6,999). The Micromax leads over the Redmi with a slightly faster MediaTek Helio G35 processor, fingerprint sensor and dual cameras. The Realme C11 lags only a fingerprint sensor, but runs the same G35 processor.
