Minor Boy Falls Victim To ‘One-Sided Love’ In Ganjam, Uncle Held For Murder

Ganjam: A man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly kidnapping and murdering his seven-year-old nephew on January 12.

The accused, identified as Debasis Panda, is the uncle of the deceased Ashish Anshuman.

According to the sources, Ashis went missing on January 12, following which his family members had lodged a missing complaint in the police station.

Police arrested Panda on the basis of the CCTV footage, in which he was found taking the minor on his scooter.

During interrogation, Panda confessed to have taken him to Tara Tarini forest on the pretext of dropping him in school and stoned him to death.

Notably, he had befriended his mother on the social media and started visiting her house frequently. “I have feelings for Nirupama. But she rejected my proposal. The boy was an obstacle in our relationship. So I killed him,” he told police.

“Panda picked the boy on the pretext of dropping him at school on January 12. Instead of taking him to school, he took him to Tara Tarini forest and stoned him to death. Based on the complaint lodged by boy’s family members, we started investigation and arrested him,” said Berhampur SDPO Bishnu Pati.
