Sundargarh: A minor girl was allegedly gangraped by three miscreants in a forest area near Talsara in Odisha’s Sundargarh district.
As per preliminary information, the incident took place in a remote area under the jurisdiction of Talsara police station late on Monday night. The incident has triggered shock and outrage in the area.
Sources said the girl had gone to attend a traditional community feast (Ekosia bhoji). She was returning home with two other minor girls after the event when the accused intercepted them.
The three youths allegedly took the victim into a nearby forest and took turns to sexually assault her in an isolated.
The two other girls managed to escape the scene out of fear and informed villagers and the victim’s family about the incident.
The youths had reportedly come in an SUV and gang raped the minor girl after abducting her. They dropped the survivor near another village. The girl later narrated the ordeal to her parents, who then approached the police.
A complaint has been lodged with the police in connection with the incident. The police have launched an investigation and efforts are on to trace and apprehend the accused persons.
