New Delhi: Within hours of Rahul Gandhi sharing a video clip of S Jaishankar and saying it was a “crime” to inform Pakistan ‘at the start’ of India’s attack, a sharp rebuttal came from the government.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), through its XP Division, put out a statement on Saturday evening to clarify the timeline of the Union minister’s remarks and called it “utter misrepresentation” of facts.
“EAM Dr S Jaishankar had stated that we had warned Pakistan at the start, which is clearly the early phase after Operation Sindoor’s commencement. This is being falsely represented as being before the commencement. This utter misrepresentation of facts is being called out,” XP Division, MEA, stated.
Earlier, the Congress leader hit out at the government for allegedly “informing” Pakistan about targeting its terror infrastructure.
In the video clip shared by Rahul, Jaishankar can be heard saying, “At the start of the operation, we had sent a message to Pakistan, saying, ‘We are striking at terrorist infrastructure and we are not striking at the military’.”
