Kolkata: Veteran actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty heaped praise on Suvendu Adhikari, calling him the “best chief minister West Bengal can have.”
Mithun made the remark after the newly-elected chief minister of West Bengal visited him at his Newtown residence on Saturday.
“I can guarantee the people that there can be no better CM than him. He is the best. He has already begun working from day one after taking the oath,” Mithun told reporters after the meeting.
BJP leaders called the meeting a “courtesy visit” and said it was meant to thank Mithun for his contribution during the recent election campaign. According to an ANI report, the two reportedly discussed the party’s future plans in the state for nearly an hour.
Speaking to mediapersons after the meeting, Suvendu said Mithun had worked tirelessly for the party over the past five to six years and played an important role in bringing political change in the state.
“He is a senior to me. I came to seek his blessings. We discussed the work that needs to be done. However, we cannot share the details of the roadmap we discussed,” Suvendu said.
On the work front, Mithun was recently seen in Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Bengal Files’.
Earlier this month, Vivek shared a lengthy note on Instagram in which he alleged that Mamata Banerjee had launched a campaign against him in West Bengal.
He claimed that the controversies linked to some of his films had made it increasingly challenging for his work to reach audiences in the state.
Released in Indian theatres on September 5, 2025, ‘The Bengal Files’ also stars Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumaar, Anupam Kher, and Simrat Kaur.
