Monsoon To Hit Odisha In Second Week Of June

Bhubaneswar: The regional meteorological centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Friday predicted that the south-west monsoon may hit Odisha coast by the second week of June.

The monsoon is expected to set over Kerala on May 29. It will then move towards Odisha coast and the present weather conditions are favourable for dragging the monsoon current, a bulletin issued by the met centre stated.

The weatherman has also issued thunderstorm warning for three districts of the state – Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Keonjhar.

The latest Doppler weather radar and images indicate that thunderstorm accompanied by rain and high wind is likely to occur at these places till 10:15 pm.

People in these areas have been advised to stay indoors, if such weather conditions prevail.
