Raipur: Baba Ramdev faces more trouble as an FIR has been registered against him in a police station in the Chhattisgarh capital for allegedly spreading “false” information about the medicines being used by the medical fraternity for the treatment of COVID-19.
The case was filed against Ramkrishna Yadav, alias Baba Ramdev, after the Chhattisgarh unit of Indian Medical Association (IMA) filed the complaint.
According to Raipur’s Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Yadav, the yoga guru has been booked under sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and others of the IPC and provisions of Disaster Management Act, 2005.
The complaint mentioned that for over a year, Ramdev has been propagating false information and his threatening statements on social media against medicines being used by medical fraternity, Indian government, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and other frontline organisations in treatment of coronavirus infection.
Several videos have surfaced on social media where he can be heard making controversial comments on doctors and modern medicines.
Last month, IMA had lodged a police complaint in Delhi while IMA Uttarakhand filed a defamation suit against Ramdev.
