Bhubaneswar: A woman and her son were grievously injured after alleged sword attack by miscreants in Balipatna area near Bhubaneswar.
According to preliminary information, the two were allegedly attacked with sword late on Saturday night at Achyutapur after they demanded the repayment of a loan of Rs 1,200.
The injured victims were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment and later shifted to Capital Hospital.
The victim has been identified as Debashish and the accused Niranjan.
Sources said the incident took place over repayment of the loan amount. The accused, accompanied by a group of 10 to 12 other individuals, barged into the house of the victim and assaulted the family members.
During the assault, Debashish sustained injuries to his legs, while his mother suffered injuries to her head. The injured individuals were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The Balipatna Police launched an investigation into the violent incident and formed a special team to trace and apprehend the accused persons. Raids are being conducted at several locations as part of efforts to nab the accused.
