Movies Vs Reality: Mastermind Behind Pushpa-Style Liquor Smuggling Nabbed From Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: Movies have always had a huge influence on our real life, no matter it’s good or bad. While tricks work out well in films, they end up as a flop shop in real life.
This smuggler inspired by Allu Arjun’s movie ‘Pushpa’, allegedly tried to pilfer liquor in a similar style only to be caught by the Excise officials.
Raj Kumar, the mastermind behind smuggling of liquor in a water tanker in Dhenkanal, was arrested by the Excise officials on Sunday. Kumar had gone absconding after the water tanker with liquor in one secret compartment of the vehicle was seized by the Excise sleuths on March 1.
Dhenkanal District Excise officials seized the vehicle from an area near near Mahidharpur and recovered 1,070 cases (9224.8 litres) of liquor from it.
The truck driver had revealed that he was carrying the consignment towards Angul. The Excise sleuths had also arrested Bijendra and Satish Nandal of Haryana and one Abinash Moharana of Odisha. Ever since, the Excise teams were in search of Kumar.
They achieved success 11 days after continuous raids at different places, Excise officials said.
On Sunday, acting on a tip-off, Excise team raided a four-storey building at Samantrapur Nuagaon on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar and arrested Kumar. A resident of Gudeikateni in Dhenkanal district, Kumar’s real name is Jagamohan Sahu, he told the officials.
Police have seized a luxury car, Rs 9 lakh cash and 2 kg ganja from him during the raid, said Debasish Patel, Excise Superintendent.
