Bhopal: A Bhopal court had junked an application filed by the family of Twisha Sharma, who was found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal, seeking an order for allowing a second postmortem of her body at AIIMS Delhi. The court ordered the authorities to urgently explore facilities across the state, which would be capable of preserving the body at ultra-low temperatures, according to India Today.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said the state government would write to the CBI seeking a probe into the death of the 33-year-old model and actor. Her family has alleged harassment over dowry.
Meanwhile, the state government has also launched probe against former-judge Giri Bala Singh, who is an accused in the case and Sharma’s mother-in-law.
The MP government is investigating Singh, president of the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, after an FIR for dowry harassment lodged against her. The state government has asked the State Consumer Commission to probe her under the 2020 appointment rules, reported Republic TV.
Police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate allegations of dowry harassment against her husband, Samarth Singh, and his mother Giribala.
Sharma, a resident of Noida, had married Samarth, a Bhopal-based advocate in 2025. Five months later, Twisha died of hanging, according to a post-mortem report as cited in several media reports.
An MBA graduate, she had also appeared in the Telugu film Mugguru Monagallu.
Her parents had staged a sit-in protest outside MP Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s residence last Sunday, demanding justice.
The couple had met online and then tied the knot. According to reports, the woman was pregnant at the time of death.
