‘Mrs India’ Sridevi Laid To Rest With Full State Honours

Mumbai: Veteran actor Sridevi was cremated with full state honours at the Vile Parle Seva Samaj crematorium in Mumbai on Wednesday. The actor had passed away on February 24 due to ‘accidental drowning’ in a bathtub in a Dubai Hotel.

The actor’s mortal remains arrived in Mumbai on Tuesday night after Dubai Public Prosecution gave a clean chit and shut the case. On Wednesday morning, the body was taken to the Celebration Sports Club in Mumbai for family and fans to take a last look.

Sridevi was draped in a red Kanjeevaram saree and dressed like a bride. Wrapped in a tricolour, she was then taken in a procession to the Vile Parle Seva Samaj crematorium where she was laid on rest with full State honours.

A host of celebrities including yesteryear actor Jeetendra, Jaya Bachchan, Hema Malini, Shahrukh Khan, choreographer Saroj Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vidya Balan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali paid their last respect to the actor.

Sridevi is survived by her husband Boney Kapoor, daughters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor. Her step children Arjun and Anshula Kapoor were also present to pay their respect.

Sridevi had gone to Dubai to attend the wedding of her nephew Mohit Marwah.
