Mukteswar Dance Festival’s 2nd Day Features A Feast Of Odissi Performance In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The second evening of the Mukteswar Dance Festival in Odisha capital showcased solo and group Odissi dance performance by reputed dancers.

The programme started with Shiva Vandana by Prafulla Chandra Behera and his group invoking the blessing of Lord Shiva. The solo dance was staged by Harekrushna Dhal with Bho Samboo. It was followed by Abhinaya Vali Mokshya. Guru Pravat Kumar Swain choreographed the dances to music composition of Guru Sukanta Kumar Kundu, rhythm by Guru Dhaneswar Swain and script, concept and voiceover by Srinibas Ghatuary.

The second item was duet performance of Trilochan Sahoo and Prasanti Jena who presented Hamswadhwani Pallavi set to Rag Hanswadhani and Taal Ek Taali followed by Dasavatar set to Rag Kalayana and Tal Jhampa from Gita Govinda. The music was composed by Pandit Bhubaneswar Mishra and the dance choreographed by Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra and directed by Guru Sujata Mohapatra.

The dancers from Sankalpa led by Guru Kasturi Pattanaik staged the group Odissi dance. They started with Uma Maheswar Stotram written by Adi Shankaracharya and followed it with Narayani Pallavi based on Raag Narayani and Taal Ektali. Their next presentation was Abhinaya – Maare Baano Dhara Shravana and the concluding item was Nirvan. The dance was choreographed by Guru Kasturi Pattanaik.

The dignitaries present on the occasion included Priyambada Mohanty Hejmadi, eminent Odissi danseuse and former vice-chancellor, Sambalpur University; Manmatha Kumar Satapathy, vice-president, Odisha Sangita Natak Akademi; Ranjan Kumar Das, director and special secretary, Odia Language, Literature and Culture and Sangita Gosain, former chief executive, GKCM Odissi Research Centre.

The programme was anchored by Srinibas Ghatuary and Sanhati Pani. The festival is organized by the Department of Odia Language, Literature & Culture in association with Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi.
