Bhubaneswar: Housing and Urban Development Minister Pratap Jena on Tuesday said the Orissa Municipal Act-1950 and Orissa Municipal Corporation Act-2003 need to be amended for holding elections to urban local bodies (ULBs).
Replying to a question of Congress legislator Suresh Kumar Routray in the Assembly, the minister said the reservation of seats for SC, ST and OBC candidates in the elections can be made only after amendment of both Acts.

The election process will be started after making the necessary amendments, he added.
It may be noted that election to urban bodies in the state has not been conducted for the last two years.
