Informing the media here, IG (Operation) RP Koche, said that the Odisha Police has deployed the Special Operation Group (SOG), Border Security Force (BSF) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) along the border.
“Instructions have been given to the SPs of the bordering districts to keep a close watch on the police stations and outposts as there is a possibility of violence by the Red Rebels who might try to infiltrate into the Odisha border after the murder of the two MLAs,” the IG said.
He further said that the Andhra Pradesh Police suspect the involvement of Maoists of the Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee led by the secretary Ramakrishna in the attack.
According to Visakhapatnam Range Deputy Inspector General of Police CH Srikanth, a group of about 60 Maoists intercepted the two cars of the sitting TDP MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and former TDP MLA Siveri Soma at Livitiput and shot them from point-blank range after an argument with them.
