Berhampur: The mutilated body of former sarpanch of Banthapali in Ganjam district was found on road side in the city on Friday.
According to sources, the sarpanch, Pradip Bisoi left his house at Gate Bazaar on his bike and was going towards Anantai. He is suspected to have been killed by some miscreants near Baurisukunda water factory under Bada Bazar police limits.
On being informed by the locals, who spotted the body, police rushed to the spot. After identifying the sarpanch, the police sent the body for post-mortem and have filed a case. Further investigation is on.
Earlier, Bisoi was convicted in a case and sent to jail. He had come of out the jail on parole a few days back, the sources said.
Though the exact cause of the sarpanch’s murder is yet to be known, the police suspect it to be a case of old rivalry.
