Naba Das Murder: Odisha CB Probe Not On Right Track As Key Aspects Ignored, Says Congress

Bhubaneswar: Taking a swipe at Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over his statement on Naba Das murder, veteran congress leader Narasingha Mishra on Wednesday claimed that the ongoing probe is not on the right track as many key aspects are being ignored.

The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader sought to know as to why the Chief Minister was silent on the conspiracy aspect while his cabinet colleague and Revenue Minister herself has alleged involvement of two senior BJP leaders in the crime.

Raising questions over the Crime Branch probe into mysterious murder, Mishra said the probe is not moving in the right direction as the investigating agency is ignoring several important aspects of the case.

The senior Congress leader claimed that the accused policeman’s niece reportedly visited Nab Das for a job. As per a news report, Nab Das had once slapped her, he said, adding “I don’t know if it is true. But, if the allegation is true, it needs to be investigated,” Mishra said.

This apart, there has been a growing dissatisfaction within BJD ever since Naba Das joined the ruling party, he said, claiming that a former minister from western Odisha had a rift with Naba Das during Brajrajnagar by-election.

There may be political enmity with him and it should be probed, but the Crime Branch is ignoring this aspect, he said.

Referring to business activities of the slain Minister, Mishra said there was also a talk about the involvement of coal business in the crime, but it is not being investigated.

The Congress stalwart further said that seeking the help of FBI for analysis of the accused cop’s behavior is of no meaning.
