Bhubaneswar: A national award-winning teacher sustained grievous injuries after being allegedly attacked by unidentified miscreants neat Bhubaneswar railway station on Monday.
The teacher has been identified as Dwiti Chandra Sahu from Rayagada district, who had been honoured by President Droupadi Murmu with the national teacher award.
As per information, Sahu was in Bhubaneswar for official work. While he was walking near the railway station, some miscreants suddenly attacked him with a wooden plank. He sustained critical injuries in the assault and was immediately rushed to hospital for treatment.
The attackers reportedly snatched the mobile phone from Sahu and fled the scene.
Condemning the assault, Rayagada Teachers’ Association has demanded strict action against those involved in the attack.
Police have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the attackers.
It may be noted that was conferred the National Teachers’ Award in 2024 by President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi.
