Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday inaugurated a residential school of Bhubaneswar-based KISS at Bhawanipatna in Odisha’s Kalahandi district.
Inaugurating the school through video-conference from Bhubaneswar, the chief minister said around 1200 tribal students will get the opportunity to pursue studies free of cost in the school.
Appreciating the efforts of KISS in opening schools in all districts of the state, he said Kalahandi is making rapid strides in education sector with opening of university and engineering colleges.
Stating that his government has been giving priority to education, Naveen said 400 high schools in the state have already undergone transformation under 5T initiative as part of the policy. Total 129 schools in Kalahandi have been transformed in two phases, he added.
MPs Basant Panda and Sujit Kumar and MLA Pradip Disari also spoke on the occasion. KISS founder and MP Achyuta Samanta was also present.
