Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday inaugurated three-storey parking facility at Nandankanan near Odisha capital.
Built with a budget of Rs 3542.79 lakh, the facility has parking space of 5600 square metre in each floor. Total 583 cars can be accommodated in each floor. Besides, 2,000 two-wheelers can be parked in the ground floor of the building.
The parking lot, which has been constructed in view of rising number of visitors to Nandankanan Zoo and traffic congestion on the roads leading to it has also basic civic facilities including drinking water, toilet, waiting room for the drivers of vehicles and ticket counters.
Surrounded by a landscape garden, the facility has a pond on its premises. Having necessary fire safety measures, it also has CCTV cameras installed at different points.
The state government is taking steps to develop Nandankanan as a world-class zoo. A 20-year plan drawn up for the purpose would also attract tourists from the country as well as abroad, a government release said.
Forest and Environment minister Bikram Arukh, MLAs Suresh Routray and Sushant Kumar Rout and senior officers were present on the occasion.
