NCW Slams Congress’ Udit Raj Over ‘Highly Objectionable’ Tweets Against President Droupadi Murmu

Bhubaneswar: After being slammed by BJP for his derogatory tweets about President Droupadi Murmu, Congress leader Udit Raj may soon get a notice from National Commission for Women (NCW), which has also asked him to apologise to the newly-elected President for his remarks.

“Highly objectionable statement against the supreme power of the country and a woman who with her sheer hard work reached this position. @Dr_Uditraj must apologise for his derogatory and insulting statement. @NCWIndia is sending him a notice,” tweeted NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma.

His “chamchagiri” comment against the President stirred controversy even as he went on to say that “no country should get such a president” over her statement on salt which she gave during her Gujarat visit on Monday.

Udit Raj is the third Congress leader to have landed in a soup for his remarks on President Droupadi Murmu. While Ajoy Kumar said that she represented the “evil philosophy of India”, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary drew flak for using the term ‘Rashtrapatni’ soon after Droupadi won her Presidential bid as an NDA nominee.

Stating that Udit Raj had used unacceptable language for the first woman tribal President, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla asked, “Does the Congress endorse this insult of Adivasi samaj?”

“This is the third strike after Ajoy Kumar & Adhir Ranjan statements on Murmu ji! This is not a Sanyog ! It is INC mindset,” Poonawalla wrote.
