New Delhi: India recorded the highest single-day spike in coronavirus cases on Sunday after 24,850 new cases surfaced in last 24 hours. India’s total COVID-19 tally now stands at 6,73,165.
More than 600 deaths in the last 24 hours took the country’s toll to 19,268, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data confirmed.
On a positive note, 4,09,083 patients have been cured and discharged from medical facilities. The number of active cases stands at 2,44,814.
The worrying factor is India is gradually inching closer to Russia to be the third worst-hit nation by the coronavirus pandemic in the world. India is only 399 cases shy of Russia. While India so far has 6,73,165 cases compared to Russia’s 6,73,564.
On the global chart, the United States remains on top with 28,39,436 cases, followed by Brazil’s 15,77,044 cases.
