Mumbai: A recorded cyber fraud awareness message in Amitabh Bachchan’s voice, which played for months before a call could connect, was discontinued from Thursday.
“The campaign, which aimed to educate the public on cyber frauds, has come to an end and therefore, the pre-call cybercrime awareness message will be removed from today,” NDTV reported, quoting a source.
As soon as the news went viral, netizens started celebrating and thanked the government for ending the ‘torture’ before every call.
“Itni khushi aaj tak ni mili jitni is news se mili h (no news has ever made me happier),” wrote a person.
“Bahut achha hua (A great thing),” wrote another.
“God bless was so irritated with it,” a person wrote.
“People who made that happens, this country owes u a great debt,” joked another.
“Thank god 🙏…..that was a big torture,” wrote another.
Notably, a couple of days back when a social media user criticised the caller tune in Amitabh’s voice, the veteran actor gave a befitting reply to the troll.
Amitabh shared a random post that read, “Ji haan huzoor, main bhi ek prashansak hoon. Toh?? (Yes, sir, I’m a fan too. So??).”
A netizen replied, “Toh phone pe bolna band kro bhay (So stop saying it on the phone).”
To this, Big B quipped, “Sarkar ko bolo bhai, unhone jo kaha humne kar diya (Tell the government, I did what they told me to do).”
On the work front, Amitabh was last seen with in ‘Vettaiyan’, alongside Rajinikanth.
He will be next seen in the remake of ‘The Intern’ with Deepika Padukone.
