Cuttack: Advocate Aditya Kumar Mohapatra had been appointed by President Ram Nath Kovind as a Judge of Orissa High Court
A notification in this regard was issued by Ministry of Law and Justice on Wednesday.
“In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Aditya Kumar Mohapatra, to be a Judge of the Orissa High Court, with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office,” it read.
The Supreme Court Collegium had approved the proposal for the elevation of Mohapatra and lawyer Mruganka Sekhar Sahoo- and judicial officers – Radha Krishna Pattanaik and Sashikanta Mishra – as Judges of Orissa High Court on September 30.
Sahoo, Pattanaik and Mishra had taken the oath on October 19.
The Collegium had earlier recommended the transfer of three judges – Punjab & Haryana High Court Judge Justice Jaswant Singh, Calcutta High Court Judge Justice Soumen Sen and Calcutta High Court Judge Justice Arindam Sinha – to the Orissa High Court.
With Mohapatra’s appointment, the strength of judges in Orissa HC has gone up to 17.
