Bhubaneswar: Odisha felt the winter chill on Wednesday as the night temperature dropped to 12.4°C at G Udayagiri.
Phulbani, also in Kandhamal district, was close second at 12.5°C. Daringbadi (14°C) was the other place in the state where the night temperature fell below 15°C. Jharsuguda (14.5°C) and Bhubaneswar (17°C witnessed a sharp drop of 4.3°C and 4.2°C respectively from normal. Cuttack recorded 17.6°C, which was 2.5°C below normal.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature observed marked fall by about 4-6°C at one or two places in north Odisha. It also appreciably fell by about 2-4°C at isolated places across the state. Besides, dense fog occurred at one or two places in Koraput and shallow fog at isolated places in Sundargarh district.
With dry weather prevailing across the state, the weather agency has forecast further fall in the minimum temperature by 2-4°C during the next 2 days. Phulbani may record 11°C by November 9.
