Bhubaneswar: The mercury plummeted to 15 degree Celsius and below in twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack in the last 24 hours, the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Saturday.
Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 15 and 14.2 degree Celsius, respectively, which was 2.8 and 2.7 degrees below normal. The cities had recorded 17.5 and 16.5 degree Celsius, respectively, the previous day.
Kirei was the coldest place in the state at 8 degree Celsius followed by Sundargarh at 9.7 degree Celsius and Rourkela at 10.8 degree Celsius.
The weather agency, however, has forecast a gradual rise in the night temperature by 2-4 degree Celsius during the next 3 days.
Light rain is likely to resume at one or two places in Nuapada, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, and Jajpur districts on February 11. Light rain is also likely at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Dhenkanal on February 12. While dry weather will prevail during the subsequent two days, light rain is also expected at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Deogarh on February 15, it added.
