Bhubaneswar: After rains for two days under the influence of a low-pressure area over southwest Bay of Bengal, the night temperature in Odisha is likely to fall again by 2-4 degree Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Sunday.
There will be no large change in minimum temperature (night temperature) for the next 2 days. The mercury will thereafter fall by 2-4°C during the subsequent 3 days, according to the midday bulletin.
The weather agency has forecast light to moderate rain one or two places in North Odisha, South Coastal Odisha, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Balangir, Boudh and Sonepur on December 8. Shallow to moderate fog may also occur at one or two places in Ganjam, Koraput, Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts.
On December 9, light to moderate rain may continue at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul and Dhenkanal districts.
Twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack are likely to experience cloudy sky with light rain on these two days.
Dry weather may prevail across the state thereafter, it added.
Meanwhile, the low-pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining east Equatorial Indian Ocean is expected to move west-northwestwards and become more marked during next 24 hours. It is very likely to continue to move west-northwestwards thereafter and reach over southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri-Lanka- Tamil Nadu coasts around December 11.
