Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported nine COVID-19 deaths in the first four days of July, which also saw 1544 new positive cases.
Of the total 34 deaths in the state, 25 patients succumbed to the virus in the last one month (June 4 to July 4), according to the tweets by the Health and Family Welfare department. These deaths have been reported from Ganjam (15), Khurda (4), Cuttack (3), one each from Bargarh, Puri and Angul.

Friday (July 3) saw the highest single-day spike of 561 COVID-19 cases. A day later, another 495 people in the state were found infected. The total cases count on July 1 and July 2 was 251 and 229 respectively.
The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar saw a surge in coronavirus cases in the last two days. Cuttack saw 59 new cases on July 3 while 49 were found to have contracted the virus in Bhubaneswar on July 4.

On June 4, the COVID-19 tally in Odisha was 2478. As many as 6123 new cases have been detected since then, taking the total to 8601 on July 4.
