NIRF Rankings 2025: IIM Sambalpur Climbs 16 Places; SOA Moves Up In Medical Sciences & Engineering

Sambalpur/Bhubaneswar: The NIRF rankings, which were released by Union minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday, saw some of the premier educational institutions of Odisha making significant strides.

IIM Sambalpur has climbed 16 places to secure the 34th rank among 100 best institutes providing management education, while Bhubaneswar’s Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) Deemed to be University and KIIT has been ranked 15th and 17th respectively among the top-100 universities in the country in NIRF placings for 2025, according to press releases issued by the institutes.

IIM Sambalpur director Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal congratulated the entire team of the institute for their ‘exemplary efforts’.

“I am thrilled to build up success and continue our journey towards greater heights. IIM Sambalpur has reaffirmed its excellence by climbing 16 spots in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 rankings, achieving the 34th position in the latest evaluation. This year, IIM Sambalpur has officially launched its global accreditation journey, beginning with AI integration in the learning methodology, initiation of AACSB accreditation process which is an international quality benchmark in business education,” said Prof. Jaiswal.

He added that the institute is aiming for the ‘Triple Crown’ status, a rare distinction held by less than 1% of B-schools worldwide.

“I am proud to say that IIM Sambalpur has become the fastest IIM to grow in terms of academic excellence, global collaborations, industry partnerships, and inclusivity, while staying firmly rooted in our core values.”

SOA in top 25

SOA bhubaneswar

SOA, placed 25th in the overall category, has found a place within the top 25 institutions of higher learning in India since the inception of NIRF rankings in 2016. On eight occasions, SOA has been ranked within the top 20 universities in India.

The Deemed to be University improved its rank in Medical Sciences, moving up six places to 15th, while in dental sciences SOA maintained its 9th rank.

In Engineering, SOA jumped four places this time to be ranked 22nd in the country.

In Law, SOA has been placed 10th this time, while in research, SOA-DU improved by one place to be in 49th position.

SOA’s founder president Prof. (Dr) Manojranjan Nayak congratulated the faculty, researchers and other employees and urged them to continue their relentless effort to help SOA scale new heights.

SOA vice-chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda said, “We must work hard to ensure that the university continues to climb the ladder and achieve greater laurels.”

KIIT’s Rankings

KIIT bagged 27th rank among top-100 institutions and 14th rank among the top law institutions in the country. The institute was ranked 24th in among to top 50 medical colleges and 26th among top 40 dental college. Likewise in engineering, KIIT was at 36 spot. respectively. It bagged the 43rd position among 50 research institutes.
