No ‘Boita Bandana Utsav’ At These Sea Beaches In Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: Gopalpur, Aryapali and Sunapur beaches in Odisha’s Ganjam district will remain out of bounds for tourists from 2 pm on Thursday to 2 pm on Friday to prevent large congregations during Kartika Purnima.

The Ganjam administration has imposed restrictions to check the spread of COVID-19. People have been urged not to congregate at the beaches to sail boats on November 19.

Notably, Kartika Purnima is celebrated with Boita Bandana, a mass commemoration of the maritime glory of the people of Odisha.

In view of the pandemic, the Odisha government, in its November lockdown guidelines, restricted ‘Boita Bandana Utsav’ and mass bathing on the day of Kartik Purnima at river ghats and other water bodies.
