Hyderabad: A 19-year-old NEET-UG candidate, identified as Sheikh Sana, was found dead in Miyapur, Hyderabad, on Saturday — one day before the scheduled re‑examination of the medical entrance test, police said.

After being alerted, police reached the scene and took the body to Gandhi Hospital for a post-mortem. A case has been filed, police said.
NEET Aspirants’ Recent Suicide Cases
A 22-year-old NEET candidate in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, died after allegedly falling from the terrace of a rented house on June 19, a police said. She had gone to the terrace while talking on her mobile phone on Thursday night; circumstances of the fall are unclear and police are investigating.
At least 12 NEET‑UG aspirants from different states have reportedly died by suicide during the 37 days between the cancellation of the May 3 NEET‑UG exam and the re‑exam set for June 21. The National Testing Agency (NTA) had cancelled the May 3 paper after allegations of a leak and later scheduled a re‑test to give students another chance. Reports indicate all 12 were due to appear for the June 21 re‑exam.
The fatalities span several states, including Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Goa and Jharkhand.
In many of the cases, families have blamed stress and uncertainty arising from the exam’s cancellation and the pressure of retaking it.
