Puri: Following social media reports about online sale of Mahaprasad, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has warned people against selling the holy food through any online platform.
“The temple administration has given no permission to any private organisation or individual to sell Mahaprasad online,” said Puri Jagannath Temple Chief Administrator Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra.
Any individual or organisation found guilty of selling Mahaprasad online will be punished according to the law, he added.
According to sources, a private entity, Divine of Odisha, had issued an advertisement on social media, claiming that it supplied Mahaprasad to interested people through an online platform. It also mentioned about a website through which people can place their order for the same.
“Cooking and selling of Mahaprasad are the responsibility of Srimandir administration. We have urged the police to trace people who are selling Mahaprasad online and take action against them,” a Press note issued by temple administration on Tuesday said.
The temple administration also denied availability of online service to accept marriage invitations from people to Lord Jagannath amid reports that a servitor group had made such arrangements.
Earlier this month, the SJTA had carried out the entire cooking of Abadha on the Bhoga Mandap of the shrine to estimate the actual cost incurred in preparation. It will soon come up with a rate chart for Mahaprasad.
