Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre on Wednesday said that that there is no weather warning for Odisha coast for the next five days, till May 17, in connection with the formation low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, which is likely to intensify into cyclonic storm by May 16.
However, it has advised fishermen against venturing in deep sea on May 15-16. “Squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is very likely to prevail over south and adjoining central Bay of Bengal on May 15 and 55-65 kmph gusting 75 kmph over same region on May 16. It is likely to increase further becoming gale wind speed reaching 65-75 kmph gusting 85 kmph over south-west, adjoin west-central Bay of Bengal from May 16 evening. Fishermen are advised not to venture into deep sea area of south and central bay of Bengal from May 15. Those who are out at sea over these region are advised to return to coast by May 14,” the IMD said in its mid-day bulletin.

The Met office has, however, forecast light to moderate rain or thundershower at one or two places in Nabarangpur, Koraput, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Boudh, Ganjam, Sonepur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Angul districts in the next 24 hours.
