Google is likely to add Odia and two other Indian languages to Google Search in a bid to reach even more users in India.
Google made the announcement during its Google for India event on Thursday. The three new entries will join the nine Indian languages that are already available in Google Search, NDTV reported.
Though Google hasn’t shared the names of the three new languages, but these are likely to include Odia and Urdu as the company is bringing the support for both in Discover later this year.
Google Search can currently be used in a total of nine Indian languages—Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, and Punjabi.
The Google event also featured a number of other India-specific announcements for various products, including Assistant, Google Pay, Bolo, and Google Lens. Google Station, the company’s public Wi-Fi platform, in partnership with BSNL is expanding public Wi-Fi hotspots to more gram panchayats in the country.
