Now, Sara Tendulkar Complains Of Deepfake Photos, Fake Accounts

Mumbai: Not just celebrities, there’s no respite for their children as well from nuisance-seekers on social media.

Sara Tendulkar, cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar’s pretty daughter, has 5.8 million followers on Instagram who appreciate her photos and videos that she posts from time to time.

But of late, she has been a victim of some mischievous netizens.

A number of fake accounts with verification, with deepfake pictures of Sara, have cropped up on popular social media platform X.

Sara’s patience has finally ran out, and the 26-year-old took to Instagram to alert her followers about fake accounts on X, and made it clear that she didn’t have an account in X.

“Social media is a wonderful space for all of us to share our joys, sorrows and daily activities. However, it is disconcerting to see the misuse of technology as it takes away from the truth and authenticity of the Internet. I have come across some deepfake photos of me which are far from reality,” Sara wrote.

“A few accounts on X have obviously been created with an intent to impersonate me and mislead people. I do not have an account on X, and I hope X looks into such accounts and suspends them,” she urged the social media giant to take action.

“Entertainment should never come at the expense of the truth. Let’s encourage communication that’s based on trust and reality,” she added.

Sara is rumoured to be dating talented Team India opener Shubman Gill, though there has been no confirmation from either.

A deepfake video of Sara and Shubman made the rounds a couple of months ago. It turned out to be an Instagram post by Sara to wish her brother Arjin on his 24th birthday.

A picture of her with Arjun was morphed with Shubman ‘replacing’ Arjun.

A handful of pictures showing Sara and Shubman also went viral, which could also be fake.
