Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a nowcast warning for 14 districts of Odisha till 4.45 pm.
Light to moderate rain is likely in Dhenkanal, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Angul, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Boudh, Balasore, Nayagarh, Bhadrak, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Jagatsinghpur and Puri during the next three hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
Notably, the IMD had forecast thundershower at a few places in coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal and at one or two places in the remaining parts of the state on Monday.
The intensity of rain is likely to increase the following day with heavy rainfall warning for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Balasore. at Light to moderate rain is also likely at many places in coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada and at a few places in the rest of Odisha. Yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning has been issued for one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Rayagada during this period.
