Bhubaneswar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP on Saturday lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha accusing Biju Janata Dal (BJD) of misusing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to mislead people ahead of Nuapada Assembly by-election.
A delegation of BJP met the CEO in Bhubaneswar and submitted a memorandum in this regard. They alleged that photographs of State BJP President Manmohan Samal and MLA Himanshu Sahu were digitally altered using AI technology and circulated on social media platforms to mislead the voters of Nuapada.
State BJP spokesperson Satyabrata Panda alleged that BJD, apprehending defeat in the November 11 bypoll, is resorting to unethical and deceptive tactics. The delegation urged the CEO to take strict action under cyber laws against those responsible.
“Fearing loss in the by-election, BJD is trying to mislead voters through AI-manipulated content of BJP President Manmohan Samal and Dharmasala MLA Himanshu Sahu. While, the former Odisha Chief Minister is teaching ‘decency’ to 4.50 crore Odias, he himself remains silent when such misleading is being done by his party on social media. We have requested the Election Commission to take strong and immediate steps,” BJP leaders said.
BJD, however, refuted the allegation and alleged that BJP is the factory from which they generate such filthy content using AI tools.
