Bhubaneswar: As per his wish, noted academician and researcher Prof. Dr Rama Krushna Panda donated his body to the Department of Anatomy at Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Bhubaneswar, after his demise on April 28.

Revered as a dedicated teacher, scholar and compassionate human being, Dr Panda’s final wish was to continue serving society even after death, enabling future generations of doctors to learn through his noble contribution.

After he passed away, Dr Panda’s mortal remains were entrusted to KIMS, reflecting his lifelong commitment to knowledge and humanity.

Dr Panda, born on July 22, 1946, began his professional career in 1967 and later served as a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry at Berhampur University.

Over a nearly four-decade academic career, he earned immense respect for his contributions to Material Science and his dedication to teaching and research. He also pursued advanced research experience in the United States before retiring on July 31, 2006, as a professor.

Dr Panda is survived by his children, Dr Magna Manjareeka and Dr Shakti Swaroop, both doctors at KIMS.

Family members and admirers remembered him as a compassionate teacher, mentor and social reformer whose life was guided by the principles of knowledge, integrity and service

Dr Panda had a deep interest in traditional Indian knowledge systems, including palmistry, homeopathy and spiritual studies.

He authored a number of books, including Srimad Bhagavad Gita (Interpretation and Application), An Introduction to Practical Indian Astrology, and Signs and Secrets of Palmistry.

His writings sought to simplify the philosophical teachings of Bhagavad Gita for common readers.

KIIT and KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta praised Dr Panda’s selfless act for the cause of humanity, saying that the departed soul’s gesture will inspire others.
