Odia Filmmaker Nila Madhab Panda To Be Conferred Doctorate Of Literature
Bhubaneswar: Acclaimed filmmaker Nila Madhab Panda will be conferred doctorate by the Governor of Odisha at Culture University in Bhubaneswar on February 28.
Panda will be honoured with Doctorate of Literature (Honoris Causa) in recognition of his outstanding work in film making.
“Recognition from your home soil adds special feeling to the honour and triples the motivation on our cultural journey,” Panda said when contacted about the honour.
Nila Madhab Panda’s Hindi film ‘Kadvi Hawa’, the first-ever film on the adverse impact of climate change was released in November 2017.
His first Hindi film ‘I Am Kalam’ released in 2011 had won a national award apart from Film Fare and Screen Award. Followed by ‘Jalpari’, ‘Babloo Happy Hai’, ‘Kaun Kitne Paani Mein’ and a documentary on Lord Jagannath’s Nabakalebara ‘God’s Own People’, Panda has carved a niche for making films with social value. He was also honoured with Padma Shree in 2015.
