Bhubaneswar: The condition of eminent Odia music director Abhijit Majumdar, who was admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar in a critical condition on Thursday, is showing signs of improvement.
Having been shifted to AIIMS on ventilator support after his condition deteriorated while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Cuttack, Majumdar remains comatose but his kidney and liver function have stabilised, and he is on mechanical ventilation support, as per a bulletin issued by AIIMS.
The vitals of 54-year-old Majumdar, who is under the care of ICU and ECMO specialist Dr Srikant Behera, are stable at present.
“Having multiple comorbid conditions (Hypertension, Hypothyroidism, chronic liver disease), admitted to AIIMS emergency on 4th September 10 am in a comatose state, on ventilator support. He was shifted to Medical ICU under Dr Srikant Behera, ICU and ECMO specialist (AIIMS, Bhubaneswar) for further management. On evaluation, he was found to have: 1. Osmotic Demyelination Syndrome (both pontine and extrapontine), 2. Bilateral Pneumonia (HAP), 3. Blood stream infection ( MDRO- Acenetobactor), 4. Chronic liver disease, 5. Dyseletrolytemia (hypokalemia, hypophosphatemia, hypomagnesimia), 6.Nutritional deficiency (Vitamin D, folic acid deficiency),” the hospital informed on Sunday eveming.
“At present, he is comatose, GCS-E2, VT, M2-3, and on mechanical ventilation support. His kidney function and liver function stabilised. His Electrolytes abnormalities corrected. He is on culture directed appropriate antibiotics, and other supportive care as per the standard protocol. His vitals are stable at present,” the medical bulletin added.
Famous sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik wished Majumdar a quick recovery with his sand art at Puri beach.
