Rourkela: Two police constables were injured in a knife attack while resolving a conflict between two neighbours at C-block area of Tensa under Koida block in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Wednesday.
The victims have been identified as constables Pruthviraj Parida and Shri Routray, constables posted at Tensa police outpost.
According to sources, the constables went to the spot after getting information about a clash between two families. As they tried to broker peace, and disarm one wielding an axe, another family member attacked and stabbed them with a knife.
On being informed about the stabbing incident, cops from the outpost rushed to the spot and took the constables to a nearby hospital for treatment. One among them was later shifted to Ispat General Hospital in Rourkela as his condition deteriorated.
Police have begun an investigation and detained the accused families for questioning.
